BIOGRAPHY
Karsen Mery is a dancer, choreographer, and creative visionary. Born and Raised in West Jordan, Utah he embarked on his dance journey at the age of 6. With a sturdy background in various styles such as Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theater, and Jazz, Karsen has forged a distinctive style marked by strength and vibrant personality.
In 2023, Karsen ventured into choreography, initially crafting pieces for his high school as well as his dance studio, Dance Image Academy. Specializing in Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Lyrical forms, he pushes to innovate and captivate audiences with his dynamic compositions.
At the ripe age of 3 Karsen lost his lower left leg in a lawnmower accident. Despite facing such a significant challenge, Karsen's unwavering passion, resilience, and relentless work ethic allow him to continue his ongoing love for dance no matter what setbacks and struggles he may face. His love for dance has not only propelled his artistic journey but also imbued him with profound resilience and determination, both on and off the dance floor.
Karsen is currently mentored by Menina Fortunato in her 'Business of Dance' online program, where he is making valuable connections within the dance community and learning useful skills necessary in and out of the dance world. While being in this mentorship he collaborated with Justin Corbo in a videoshoot and appeared on a podcast episode that featured Aliya Janell (Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, JLO)
Looking ahead, Karsen aims to leave a lasting impact on the dance world, aspiring to carve out a career in dance, choreography, and teaching. His ambitions span from local studio settings to national stages. Fueled by his vision to share his story, Karsen aims to change the societal standard of what people in the dance world look like.
